Sunday 31st December 1939
Perfect day. Hard frost. Warm sun.
Phil sick 6 times. Alys up all night. Phil stopped being sick;; no temperature (owing to M & B?). Alys with him most of day. Wandered about feeding birds. Dogs on ponds, thick ice. Sat on edge of Phil’s hut in sun, writing to Kitty. Dennis read paper outdoors in nitch. Eva sneezing in evening and to bed 9.30 (or upstairs in Phil’s room). He better. Medicinal and good night as M&B stopped. Zeus ear irritating.
