When I visited my mother, I discovered a small leather suitcase filled with tiny diaries belonging to my great-great-aunt, Kate. I brought the case back with me to Shetland and began reading them. It didn’t take long to realise these pages deserved to be shared, so I started transcribing each diary—watching Kate come vividly to life with every entry.
