[1] Benjamin Franklin FRS FRSA FRSE was an American polymath and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Franklin was a leading writer, printer, political philosopher, politician, Freemason, postmaster, scientist, inventor, humorist, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat.

[2] Mischa (Mikhail Saulovich) Elman (1891 – 1967) was a Russian-born Jewish-American violinist, famed for his passionate style, beautiful tone, and impeccable artistry and musicality.

[3] The Virginian is a 1902 novel by the American author Owen Wister, set in Wyoming. It describes the life of a cowboy on a cattle ranch and is considered the first true fictional western ever written.

[4] Mürren is a Swiss mountain village at the foot of the Schilthorn peak, which is accessible by cable car.
